Ø Proposal for Railway University at Vadodara
Ø Railway capex has been pegged at Rs 1,48,528 crore in the year 2018 – 19.
Ø All stations with footfall of greater than 25,000 will have escalators.
Ø 18,000 kms of doubling of tracks would eliminate capacity constraints.
Ø Third and fourth line works and 5000 kilometers of gauge conversion would eliminate capacity constraints and transform almost entire network into Broad Gauge.
Ø Optimal Electrification of 4000 kilometers is targeted for commissioning during 2017 – 18.
- Work on Eastern and Western dedicated Freight Corridors is in full swing.
- Adequate number of rolling stock – 12000 wagons, 5160 coaches and approximately 700 locomotives to be procured during 2018 – 19.
- A major programme has been initiated to strengthen infrastructure at the Goods sheds and fast-track commissioning of private sidings.
Ø Over 3600 km railway track renewal targeted in current year
Ø 150 kms of additional suburban railway network planned at the cost of Rs. 40,000 cr
Ø 90kms of double line at a cost of Rs 11,000 crore allocated for Mumbai Suburban Railways
Ø 600 stations to be redeveloped
Ø All railway stations & trains to increasingly have Wi-Fi & CCTV
Ø Elimination of over 4,267 unmanned level crossings in the Broad Gauge network in the next two years
Ø Modern train sets to be manufactured at ICF, Perambur. First such train set to be rolled out in 2018.
Ø The training of manpower for Bullet train project will be undertaken at Railway University, Vadodara.
